After months of lamenting how unfair it was that they couldn’t have what they wanted immediately, Chanel (Raven Bowens) and Johnny (Carson Boatman) have finally gotten permission to adopt Tesoro. They are happy.

As are Grandma Paulina (Jackée Harry) and great-grandma Marlena (Deidre Hall, who welcomed Hank Northrop), who celebrate their two families being connected in a new way, and make grand plans for the baby with a very, very special name.

The Power Behind the Throne

And while Chanel and Johnny are celebrating their blessing and admitting Paulina’s role in helping them cut the line in front of adoptive parents who have been waiting much longer for their baby, what they don’t realize is that none of it would have happened without EJ talking to Amy (Shi Ne Nielson) and convincing her to change her mind about the DiMeras.

And because they don’t know the role he played, Johnny isn’t particularly grateful — or particularly pleasant — when his dad congratulates him on becoming a father. Then again, considering how he’s been acting for months, maybe Johnny would have acted the same even if he did know.

Where You Lead, I Will Follow

But while the father/son drama is going on in one part of town, we’ve got mother/daughter fun in another, as Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) teases Ari (Marissa Reyes) about her grown-up girl’s romantic prospects.

Is Gabi talking about Aaron (Louis Tomeo)… or Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews)? And if the latter, has Gabi shared her own interactions with Abe’s (James Reynolds) son?
